What is Milk Thistle?

It is a plant in the Asteraceae family called thistle with purple flowers (scientific name: Silybum maranum L.) and has been consumed for liver health since 2000 in Europe. In Germany in the 1930s, Silymarin in milk thistle was discovered to be effective for liver health, and many studies are being conducted until now. Silymarin is known to improve liver function, including through antioxidant activity.
